“What We Deserve” is a theatrical call to action commissioned by Broadway Advocacy Coalition in support of the Alliance for Quality Education’s “Solution Not Suspensions” Bill. The one-act play follows the intersecting stories of parents, students, and advocates who have been affected in various ways by school suspension. It shows that no one escapes the school suspension machine undamaged and asks the audience to take a deeper look at how they are responsible for creating a more equitable world for students in New York city and state. The staged reading premiered off-Broadway at MCC.
